(15.) Castoreum.

July 6th, 1871. Miss.... For a week, the pain in the stomach has been getting worse, going around to the left hypochondrium and through to the back, with shooting in the left hypochondrium. This comes on every day after dinner (which 18 at 2 p.m.) Pain in the stomach is better by bending double; pain in the back is worse by deer. With the pain, yawning, faintness, chilliness, borborygmi, and tasteless eructations. This afternoon, there was also pain, dyspnea, and wheezing for a time, and after this had gone off, nausea in the stomach, with objective heat of the forehead and cold hands.

10.35. p.m. Took one dose of Castoreum 200 (Leipzig). Yawning decreased at once.

7th. Slight pain in the stomach in the morning for a time. Pain returned at 7 p.m., after tea, but much less; not felt in the back—very little yawning; no other symptoms.

8th. Pain in the stomach returned at 11 a.m. for one and a half hours; none in the evening.

9tb. Pain in the stomach and left hypochondrium (but no shooting) for half an hour, one hour after breakfast, and in the afternoon; no other symptoms.

10th. Quite well, and remained so.
