The Selection Of The Remedy Illustrated. No. 2. -three Cases Of Heart Disease. Organon 1878 01 281
By E. W. BERRIDGE, M.D.
Case I. - Jan., 1872. Mrs.—— has been subject to heart attacks for thirteen years, first coming on after she gave birth. They are brought on by excitement. During the attacks, the heart feels as if it is being squeezed, with dyspnea, groaning from the pain, and the patient cannot lie down. Following the attacks, she experienced weakness, numbness in her right leg from the toes to above the knee, cold shivering, chattering of the teeth, dryness of the mouth and throat, and her back felt drawn backward. Also has a trembling feeling about the apex of the heart on talking; frequent coldness from the occiput down the spine; and frequent feeling as if the heart stopped, followed by a rush of blood to the heart and violent palpitation. Can lie best on the left side; lying on the right side brings on palpitation and weight in the left side of the chest. Fingers numb at times, especially the right. Excitement brings on palpitations. The attacks are now more severe than they were; they come on at irregular intervals. No organic lesion could be discovered by auscultation.
One dose of Lilium tigrinum C m (Fincke) was given. In April, she had some return of the symptoms, which passed off without medicine. November 1878, still well. No further report.
